About Me

Introductions are always awkward and this feels a bit like one of those situations where you have to stand up in front of a room full of people and talk about yourself. I’m not very good at that, but since this is me behind a screen and not in front of a room full of people, this introduction will hopefully contain plenty of information and no awkwardness:

Hello! I’m Louise and I’m a part-time freelance writer and full-time slave to two very loud but very lovely children.

Likes: Long walks, coffee, sunsets, reading and washing machines that play a little tune when the wash is done (anything that makes the task of doing laundry a little less mundane gets a big thumbs up from me).

Dislikes: Cold mornings, olives and people who judge others without knowing their story.

Parenting is a rewarding but tough journey and sometimes we have moments where we wonder if we’re doing it right (I wonder most days, to be honest).

This brings me to the next part of my introduction:

Why I started a blog

I decided to start blogging mainly because I love to write and wanted to share my experiences of being a parent (and also have a bit of a whinge about adult life in general). I sometimes feel like I’m a little late to all this blogging stuff as there are so many parenting and mummy blogs out there already, but everyone has their own experiences to share!

We all have days where we feel overwhelmed, especially when you’re a parent and supposed to be the responsible one. Having a place to read about someone else’s experiences can help you to feel better about your own experiences and feel less alone.

I wanted to create a sort of sanctuary for parents where I could share my own experiences and hopefully connect with other parents (or just adults who are confused by life in general).

And so The Mum Cave was born.

What’s in the blog?

My blog covers the perils and positives of parenting, from the baby and toddler stage to the primary school stage. There are light-hearted listicles, tips with a touch of humour and honest accounts of my experiences of parenting.

The Mum Cave also contains blogs about adult life in general, rants, whinges (you’re not an adult if you don’t whinge about something at least once a week, right?), days out and much more.

I should make it clear that this blog is in no way a parenting guide. If you’re looking for one of those then please let me know if you find any good ones, because most days I have no idea what I’m doing.

If you’re looking for honest parenting experiences and hopefully a bit of a laugh, then grab a cup of tea or coffee – you’ve come to the right place!

Happy reading!

Louise
